MOU With Govt.Of Karnataka

The Government of Karnataka vides G.O. no UDD 38 CSS 2011, Bangalore dated 2 May 2011, took the decision to facilitate the shifting of IHCNF Secretariat to the IHCN member city of Mysore. A host agreement was signed with the Government of Karnataka for a period of 3 years from 2011 further extended to 2016 with the Department of Kannada and Culture, Urban Development Department and Tourism Department of Government of Karnataka ensuring financial support for the IHCNF Secretariat establishment. Under the MOU IHCNF has been providing technical assistance, training and capacity building and development of a framework for heritage based Master Plans and to support the development of heritage precincts in heritage towns and cities of Karnataka and providing technical expertise for the development of heritage projects in various towns in Karnataka especially those declared as ‘Heritage Places’ by the State government.

  • Training Module for preparation of HRMPs
  • Skill Need Analysis for built heritage sector in Karnataka
  • Preparation of Home Owner’s Manual for Mysore
  • Preparation of Toolkit for Evaluation of Master Plan
  • Training of Masons in restoration of historic stone and brick masonary
  • Heritage regulations and guidelines for conservation of heritage areas and precincts-Bidar, Udupi and Mysore
  • Developing Training Module for Integration of heritage resource into City town and village planning for Urban Managers, Planners and Professionals

MOU With Govt.Of Rajasthan

On 9th May 2013, a MoU was signed between the Government of Rajasthan and IHCN-F at Jaipur, in order to open the Rajasthan Chapter of IHCN-F with a clear mandate of facilitating heritage-related activities in the State of Rajasthan. The office of the Rajasthan Chapter was also inaugurated on this occasion. Through it, several initiatives have been facilitated. An action plan for IHCNF’s deliverables for 2013-14 was approved for implementation.
IHCNF Activities In Rajasthan(2013-14)
  • Provided technical support to Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) for making amendments to the building bye-laws of 1970 and architectural control guidelines for the walled city of Jaipur
  • Coordinating and monitoring the Agency/Consultant involved in preparing the Zonal plan for Walled City and review the status for implementation – Phase-1
  • Review report of Decongestion Plan by UMTC to Jaipur Municipal Corporation.
  • Integration of Heritage & Architectural Features for Dastkar Nagar in Jaipur commissioned by Rajasthan Housing Board
  • Establishment of Heritage House and setting up permanent exhibition therein & conducting Heritage walk as an outreach programme in Udaipur
  • Prepared a Proposal for Inclusion of chapter on Facade control guidelines for Heritage Walk in Building Byelaws
  • Preparation of the TOR, monitoring the consultant and finalization of the building bye-laws and architectural control guidelines for Udaipur Walled City; Lakefronts and other heritage zones and structures.
  • Coordinated the city to city cooperation between Strasbourg and Udaipur
  • Conducted Field Workshop on Eco Mobility and Heritage based Planning in Udaipur, February 2013
  • Providing support for the setting up of an exhibition at Strasbourg on cities and crafts of Rajasthan including Master Plan of Udaipur

IHCNF got registered as a Trust on 27th March 2009 establishing it as an independent Indian organization. Its secretariat was initially set up in Mysore, Karnataka with the support of Government of Karnataka.
